What it is

GeoNames' list of populated places over 15,000 inhabitants with the IANA time zone of each, compiled into a grid the lookup searches for the nearest place inside the located country. It settles the zone for split countries and regions the curated map answers null for, within a distance cap, and only where the map could not.

What it answers

In the IP response this source feeds timezone, timezone_source. Every answer names the datasets it read in its sources block with the date each was synced, so the figure on this page and the one in an answer are the same figure.

How to read this page

A source names a network or an operator, never a person. An address inside one of these ranges tells you what the connection is — a cloud instance, a VPN exit, a gateway, a listed host — and nothing about who is behind it.

Wrong result, or is it about you? If this tool said something you think is wrong, tell us and a person reads it. If Spaw is holding data about you and you never signed up here — a customer may have had your address verified, or reported that a message to it bounced — erase it yourself, confirmed by mail to that address and with no account needed.
