How to describe Spaw, the facts that stay true, and the logo files. For directories, listings, articles, and anyone writing about the verification API.

Everything on this page may be quoted as is. If a fact here disagrees with an older mention elsewhere, this page is the current one.

One-line description

Spaw is a verification API for email, phone, IP, postal address and business identity: one key, one credit balance, and answers that name their reasons and their data sources.

Short description

Spaw verifies the identifiers people type into forms. Six signals run off one key and one balance: email verification without sending mail, phone intelligence, IP intelligence, postal address verification, business verification against public registers, and a cross-signal consistency check that reports where the others agree and where they do not. Every answer names the datasets behind it, and the four scored signals publish the weights their 0 to 100 risk score is summed from. Every account gets 100 free credits a month with no card; you pay 1 credit per answered lookup, five IP lookups to the credit, and nothing for a non-answer.

Long description

Spaw (spaw.co) is a verification API launched in 2026. It answers one question per identifier: what is this, and how much should you trust the answer?

Email verification (POST /v1/email) runs the whole pipeline on every lookup: syntax parsing after stripping display names and stray characters, live MX resolution with null-MX, implicit-MX and unresolvable-MX handling, SPF and DMARC records, the open disposable-provider and role-address lists, provider-specific username rules, a curated typo-squat map, domain registration age from RDAP, and an SMTP mailbox handshake that ends before any message is transmitted. 46 named fields. Phone intelligence (POST /v1/phone) normalises a number to E.164 and reports its line type, carrier, and the regulator's own block status from the published allocation tables, with fictional, disposable and virtual flags and a per-account ok_to_send decision: 49 fields. IP intelligence (POST /v1/ip) places an address and names what is running it — datacenter and cloud ranges, Tor exits, named VPN and relay exits, verified crawlers, public blocklists: 62 fields. Address verification (POST /v1/address) reads a postal address against its own country's format, names the kind of delivery point behind it, checks the postcode against a postcode directory and the building against an official address register where one is synced, and counts the companies registered there: 61 fields, and nothing about who lives or works at an address. Business verification (POST /v1/entity) reads a Legal Entity Identifier or a UK company number against open registers synced onto Spaw's own servers and reports the legal name, live-or-dissolved status in the register's own wording, jurisdiction and incorporation date, comparing the two registers field by field where both hold one entity. Cross-signal consistency (POST /v1/consistency) runs any subset of the first four in one call and names the agreements and disagreements between them, quoting both sides; it carries no score, no verdict and no recommendation, by design.

Spaw bills for answers only. A fresh lookup with a usable answer costs 1 credit, and one credit covers five IP lookups; non-answers, email answers whose mailbox check was uncertain, rejected requests and repeats within 7 days cost nothing, and undeliverable email verdicts are free within a fair-use allowance. Every account receives 100 free credits a month and a one-off 500-credit bonus when it confirms its email address. Credit packs are one-time purchases whose credits never expire; plans deposit the same credits every month for less, billed monthly or yearly, and plan credits roll over up to three months' allowance and stay usable for 60 days after a plan is cancelled. The same engine is available through a REST API with an OpenAPI 3.1 document, a dashboard with bulk uploads of up to 100,000 rows, a browser form widget with domain-locked publishable keys, a bounce feedback loop, scheduled list monitors for every product, and an MCP server for AI agents.

Naming

Write "Spaw", capital S, no article: "Spaw verifies…", not "the Spaw". The domain is spaw.co. Do not describe Spaw as a proxy service, a mail sender, or a data broker; it does none of those things and never sends mail on anyone's behalf. Spaw is not affiliated with any register or dataset it reads, and none of them provides, supports or authorises the answers it gives.

Logo files

The mark is a white check on an emerald tile (#059669). Keep the tile's corner radius and do not recolor the check.
