A parcel locker is a machine or collection point where post waits for the addressee: Deutsche Post's Packstation, Australia Post's Parcel Locker. Spaw answers address_type parcel_locker, unscored.

A parcel locker is an automated machine, or a staffed collection point, where post waits until the addressee collects it instead of being carried to a door. The address rules carry two operators' services: Deutsche Post's Packstation in Germany, and Australia Post's Parcel Locker and Parcel Collect, with their abbreviations PCL LKR and PCL COL.

## What Spaw answers

`address_type` reads `parcel_locker`, and the locker line — `PACKSTATION 123` — lands in `po_box` while `is_po_box` stays false, because a locker is not a rented box. Otherwise it is handled as a box: it stands in for the street line, and when no street is written beside it no register is asked, so `exists` stays null. There is no building to confirm.

It carries no risk weight. A checkout that needs a door can branch on `address_type` itself; the [delivery point](/glossary/delivery-point) entry lists the other kinds it can take.

## What is not recognised

Only the services named above are read. A locker network whose name the rules do not carry reads as whatever else the address is written as — usually `street` — so an absent `parcel_locker` is not proof that an address is a door. A country's page in the [address checker](/tools/address-checker) lists the words that are read there.
