# `SANDBOX_UNAVAILABLE` (HTTP 503): the sandbox key is switched off here

The request carried the published sandbox key on a deployment where the sandbox is turned off.

The sandbox is a convenience for reading the documentation, not part of the API contract, and a deployment can switch it off. When it is off the key is refused outright rather than throttled.

There is no Retry-After on this answer, deliberately: nothing is going to reset. A 429 here would tell a client to wait and try again forever.

**What to do.** Create an account and use your own sk_live_ key. Nothing about the endpoint itself has changed — only the shared key is unavailable.

```json
{
    "success": false,
    "error": {
        "code": "SANDBOX_UNAVAILABLE",
        "message": "The sandbox key is switched off on this deployment. Create an API key of your own to make this call.",
        "request_id": "req_01m1kgdm4xngzmbmff68g94w0c"
    }
}
```
