# `METHOD_NOT_ALLOWED` (HTTP 405): the endpoint does not accept that HTTP method

The path exists but not for this verb — a GET where the endpoint takes POST, most often. The response carries an Allow header naming the methods it does take. Nothing is charged.

Every lookup endpoint takes POST, because the value being verified belongs in a body rather than a URL that would be logged by proxies along the way. The read-only endpoints (a bulk job's status, a monitor, the account) take GET.

A client that follows a redirect can turn a POST into a GET and arrive here. Call the documented URL directly, with its scheme and no trailing slash.

**What to do.** Read the Allow header, or the endpoint's reference page, and resend with the method it names.

```json
{
    "success": false,
    "error": {
        "code": "METHOD_NOT_ALLOWED",
        "message": "This endpoint does not accept that HTTP method. The Allow header names the ones it does.",
        "request_id": "req_01m1kgdm4xngzmbmff68g94w0c"
    }
}
```
